Here are some important reminders about the first couple weeks of school:
- Week of 8/22, ~ Look for an email from Wiseburn School Mint with information about your student's teacher and classroom number.
- Thursday, August 25th School Year’s Eve from 4:30-6:30pm
- Stop by campus any time during this window to explore the outdoor areas of campus. Note: Classrooms and indoor spaces will not be open.
- Visit the PTA and WEF tables, and find out your student's teacher and classroom.
- Please enter through the blue double doors located by the Guerrero Multi-purpose Center.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for TK and Kindergarten
TK/K Arrival and Dismissal video
Thank you for following all traffic rules and reminding your childcare provider of the rules as well. Observing these rules helps ensure safety for all. As adults, it is important for us all to model the correct way. Please discuss with your child the importance of observing street signals, crossing streets safely, crossing only in the crosswalks, and not talking to strangers. Please report any suspicious or dangerous activity to the school office or the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station at (323) 820-6700.
For the safety of students, they may not be dropped-off prior to 8:00am and are expected to go home promptly upon dismissal at the end of the day. We ask that you pick up your child on time, because we cannot provide adult supervision beyond the scheduled times.
The following entrance and exit plan is provided for your convenience. Note that the procedures for students in grades TK/Kindergarten are different from students in grades 1-5.
Parents using the valet lane for morning drop-off must:
- remain in their cars
- pull as far forward as possible to the drop off area before unloading
- have students packed up and ready to exit the car, avoid having to retrieve belongings from the trunk as it causes delays
If parking on Hindry Avenue or any neighboring streets:
- respect our neighbors and do not park in or block any driveways
- use the Pedestrian Walkway or other designated crosswalks
Breakfast and Arrival Procedures for Grades TK/Kindergarten
- Doors will open at 8:00am.
- Breakfast will be served until 8:35am.
- All students will enter campus using the blue double doors located by the Guerrero Multi-purpose Center and then go to the cafeteria. If using the valet lane, pull all the way forward when dropping off your student and do not leave your car unattended in any redzone.
- Students choosing to eat breakfast will enter the cafeteria and sit at a designated area.
- Students choosing not to eat breakfast and students arriving will enter the cafeteria and sit at a designated area.
- A warning bell will ring at 8:40am. Students will head to their lines at this time.
- Instruction begins at 8:45am
Dismissal Procedures for Grades TK/Kindergarten - Please give yourself plenty of time and be patient.
- Students will exit through the blue double doors located by the Guerrero Multi-purpose enter
- Students will sit in designated area marked by cones
- Room 1
- Room 2

- Room 4
- Room 5
- If walking:
- Wait for your child on either the North or South walls of the valet sitting area.
- Allow for students to sit in designated areas. Students will be released, once cleared by the supervising adult.
- Parents are encouraged to clear the area as quickly as possible.
- If driving/using the valet lane:
- Do not leave your car unattended in the red zone.
- Follow the traffic pattern and pull as far forward as possible before loading passengers.
- Avoid honking.
- Students will be released, once cleared by the supervising adult

- Instruction begins at 8:30am.
1-5th Grade Dismissal - Please give yourself plenty of time and be patient.
If walking:
- Walkers will be dismissed from the gate located next to the Right at School Building. Formally the 4th and 5th grade exit.
- Students will wait in designated area marked by cones:
- Siblings
- 1st grade
- 2nd grade
- 3rd grade
- 4/5th grades
- Parents are encouraged to clear the area as quickly as possible.
If driving/using the valet lane:
- Do not leave your car unattended in the red zone.
- Follow the traffic pattern and pull as far forward as possible before loading passengers.

- Students will be dismissed from the blue double doors located by the Guerrero Multi-purpose center grade exit.
- Students will sit in designated areas marked by cones until picked up.

School Supplies
Back-to-School Night
This informational meeting is to be held by the classroom teachers with the parents of their pupils. Your child’s teacher will explain the subject matter covered, procedures, and activities planned for the school term. Thanks for understanding that teachers will not be able to confer individually with you during this evening. Additional information regarding this Back-to-School evening will be sent home with your child. Back-to-School Night is for parents only.

- TK-2nd grade: 5:30p.m. - 6:15p.m.

Anza PTA
(PTA) plays an active role at Anza School. Joining the PTA provides a good opportunity to become involved in your child’s academic program as well as to meet the parents of your child’s classmates. Through the generous support of the Anza PTA, our instructional program has been enhanced by field trips, assemblies, additional activities, and needed instructional materials.

Wiseburn Education Foundation
Wiseburn Education Foundation (WEF) is a community-based, volunteer organization focused on raising funds to support programs that allow our students to learn in a STEAM-rich environment. Get involved by helping at a WEF event or serving on a committee. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the school year, so stay tuned to WEF’s Facebook or Instagram for more info.
Wiseburn ACTS
Wiseburn ACTS (Achieving a Culture of Togetherness and Support) is a committee whose members strive to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) so that every single person feels valued and respected. Learn more about how to get involved on the Wiseburn ACTS website.
Volunteers
All parents, volunteers, and visitors are required to check in with the front office staff and receive a badge through the Raptor System. A valid government-issued ID is needed for clearance in the system. Once cleared, a sticker ID badge will be issued and is required to be worn visibly at all times. Please check out with the front office and return the sticker ID. Identification will be saved in the system for future visits.
We are successful because of strong home/school partnerships we have established. Our family volunteer program has accomplished many great things! People willing to work at school or home are needed at every grade level. If you would like to become a volunteer on a regular basis, please do the following:
- Complete parent volunteer training.
- Submit proof of a clear TB test within 4 years
- Complete online pesticide training. Please bring a copy of your certificate of completion to the front office.
Due to safety rules, we thank you for understanding that children are not permitted to come with you during the time you are volunteering, thank you for understanding and arranging for childcare. All regular volunteers must follow the Wiseburn Unified School District guidelines and submit proof to the school office of a TB risk assessment questionnaire completed by a physician.
